Message on the front page of the site suggests the tables/results may not be updated for a few weeks. However Division 3 is up. It will be dependant on league secretaries receiving cards on time and them having the time to put the information on the site.

surely we should be past relying on cards being sent to different league secretaries all over town and waiting for them to do the tables
If everyone posts their scores here or texts them in to one person, then surely the league tables can be produced by just dropping the scores into a spreadsheet
Cards could be checked to those scores later

The Pontesbury League text their scores to one person (me). The majority of teams are very good. Each team as a contact so I can chase up scores. It works really well. We played our games on friday and by saturday morning I had received 10/12 results I updated the tables there and then. Job done. We have added it to our rules, so we could fine teams for not texting, but the Pontesbury League isnt really like that. But saying that The Shrewsbury League is a different kettle of fish. I have watched Dave Evans try and sort the leagues out this season. UNBELIEVABLE JOB. He has done a fantastic job with fixtures/sponsors. The majority of teams are good, but some well, shall we say its like pulling teeth. I have upmost respect for all the committee members they are there to be shot at and receive a lot of unfair criticism. One thing is for certain you wouldnt catch me doing the job, so you wont here me critising them. If anybody does lets see them back it up by helping out. So to Scooters suggestion. Excellent idea. So lets have it writing and get it to the committee for next years AGM. Yes?

as an ex committe member of over 20 years i know how hard it is to get cards in maybe texting first cards to follow is a good idea but cards need to be checked

I like the idea in principle of texting results, the only thing that worries me is mistakes can be made... especially if the captains had a few beers types the wrong result.
Sending all the results to one person would be a nightmare when checking teams haven't played illegal players. 6 divisions avg 14 teams and avg 12 players, you would have over a 1000 names to go through! Thats why having individual league secretaries is needed.
Well done to Neil Southern, we email our Excel League tables & fixtures by Sunday and it's on the SDDL website by no later than Monday.
